Florida Pics

So, I have yet to post about my trip to Florida and it was almost a month ago we got back! Jaedenn had a blast and in fact he has been a little depressed since we got back -even his teacher noticed. But I think since he went out and played in the snow after the snow storm he's been better.

Here are a few of the almost one thousand pictures that I took. Unfortunately on some of them there was a fingerprint smudge on the lens or my finger in the corner (why oh why do they put the lens where my fingers go!)but I love them anyways!

This is a picture of my front yard today.

Here is a picture of my husband IN the snow (before shovelling). The snow he is standing in is all from Friday night and yesterday.

This is a picture of the sidewalk down the street. I don't even know how our neighbor got the snow off her driveway - I couldn't even see her b/c the snowbank along her drive was so high! All I saw was snow flying onto the top of the pile! LOL!

Finally Done!

This is a project for my sister-in-law has been 3 months in the making. In fact originally it was supposed to be a Christmas present. It ended up growing far beyond my original 10 pager. LOL! Click on the pis to see a bigger version. TFL! Feel free to leave comments.

Getting Ready

Well, school was cancelled today due to the potential for lots of snow. We had french toast for breakfast to celebrate! I have a long list of things to do today to get ready for Florida. It is noon and I have already done dishes and am on my 4th load of wash to put in the dryer. I want the house to be clean when I come back so that I can keep my "vacation" going as long as possible. I have 9 days after I come back before I have to go back to work full time. I still have no idea who will be watching the kids when I go back to work. Anyhoo, I better get back to my list!

Oooo...and hopefully by Monday our dishwasher will finally be hooked up! Yay! It's been 4 years since we've had it and it's been taking up precious cupboard space all this time. This will definitely help with my New Years resolution to keep the sink clean and EMPTY! hehehe.

I will update with pics from Florida when I get back!

Well, it is cold outside. Definitely a day to stay in and drink some hot chocolate. Although I didn't. My dh and I went out to look for a dress that will match the dressy shoes that I bought on boxing day. Of course I ended up buying 3 dresses all of which did NOT go with my shoes. PLUS I bought another pair of dress shoes! Maybe I should have stayed home :) Well, I'm off to play war with Jaedenn.

Busy Weekend

Hello All,

Well I just typed out my whole post and lost it! AHHHH! Here we go again!

QUESTION OF THE DAY: What would you do if you knew you wouldn't fail?

Well, if I had to pick one thing it would be start a business. What kind I don't know, although right at this moment I would say some sort of scrapbooking business, whether it be making scrapbooks for others or a retail/online store. Organize my house would be another one! LOL! That is an ongoing challenge.

Yesterday I was home all of 3 hours. One hour before work, after which we went to the mall and did some errands, got McD's for lunch and went home. Where I had a nap for 45 minutes then got up & got ready to go to a friends for dinner. Got home after 10:30. Went to Ross' friend Roberts house for dinner and had a great time. It was a nice easy going time. We sat and had wine while he cooked dinner. After dinner ALL the boys were play wrestling and fooling around. Then Jaedenn (with Ross on his team) and Robert started a game of chess. After about 45 minutes Jaedenn got bored and it became just Ross & Robert. Surprisingly Ross won! Well, while they were playing I was looking thru Robert's bookshelf; which has a wide variety of interesting books. One of which I would like to buy called 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families. Here is the page address. I can't for the life of me figure out how to make it a link. Sorry! If anyone has any help for me on how to do this just put it in the comments!

Also got a 300 pack of K&Co paper from my MIL today. I tell ya I lucked out in the In-Law department. Here is a pic:

There is more than this but I'm just not feeling like scanning it right now. Plus it's the girly pink papers which I haven't much of a use for anyways. Since I only have 2 boys. Anyhoo just a quick update.

Passport Issues

Well, as I sit here watching Las Vegas and eating Oreo cookies I am thinking it's nice to have the house to myself! The boys are sleeping and hubby is out having a drink at a friends. Quiet, quiet, quiet. And no interruptions. {sigh} It's wonderful.

What a crazy day! Currently we are wondering if we will even be going on our trip to Florida (leaving Feb 5) or not. I am the only one with a valid passport. Ross and both boys need to apply for theirs still. I have been trying to get Ross to apply since Jan started. He was going to apply for them today except guess what? Where I thought I put Kyler's birth certificate is not where it is. We turned the house upside down looking for it and it is NOWHERE! So, I had to pay almost $100 to apply online for another one with priorty 5 day delivery service. Then we will have to pay who-knows-how-much to have priorty service for his passport too. Ross is going to apply for his & Jaedenn's passport Monday and hopefully it will be early enough to pay just the regular fee for theirs. Here's hoping!

How Often do I backup?

Okay, so in order to keep my blog going I have decided that I will join a blogger group (a scrapbook one of course) and answer one question a day. Today's question is...how often do I back up my pictures etc. on my hard drive. Answer: Very rarely and I should do it WAAAY more often. You would think I would be religious about this since I've had a hard drive failure 3x with this computer. Once I was able to recover the pics but the last time I wasn't able to and I lost Kyler's (my youngest ds') 6 weeks to 6 months baby pictures that I hadn't backed up. That was devastating. So, maybe I'll back them up on CD today! Of course CD's/DVD's really nly last so long 2- 20 years. I should really print my pics as I upload them to my computer so at least I have a physical copy should my computer crash and there is really no excuse for that except for laziness, cost is not so much an issue b/c I can get 4x6 prints for 6 cents. Ideally though I would like to have an online backup, of course, that can get quite expensive but if I could afford it would definitely be worth it in case of a hard drive failure or theft of the computer.

So far my Resolutions are going well. While I may not be doing them EVERY day they are getting done more regularly than before. For example dishes don't take me an hour to wash. Nor are they overflowing from the sink to cover the counters and stove. My laundry pile is manageable ~ although don't get me started on the overflowing drain in the floor! I am trying to do more things with Jaedenn and working on not automatically saying no to play requests or giving a big sigh when he asks me for the umpteenth time to come over and look at his video game right after I sat down in my chair after his last request.

On the scrapbooking front I am trying to get my husband to go to Staples for me and buy me some transparencies I need for my SIL's VERY tardy Xmas present. I want to finish it by this Sunday. We are going over to his parents for supper and I am assuming she will be there and I want to give it to her.

New Years Resolution

I have been thinking of my New Years Resolutions and my one word that will represent what I want to focus on this year. I had decided on Productive because I do want to be more productive in my life. Not just sitting down infront of the t.v. vegging all day as I usually do. However, it just doesn't sound very encouraging to me. So, today looking through the 2007 challenges on the 2peas site I was struck by Maria Grace Abuzman's resolution l.o. "Be a Better You everyday". I think that will be my motto for this year ~ and from that my word {BETTER}. A little more motivating and encouraging. That being said these are my resolutions for this year:

HOME:
General ~ to keep up with daily chores.
Specific ~ keep my sink clean (and empty)
~ do one load of laundry each day (incl. wash/dry/fold AND put away)
~ start building a Household Planner
~ declutter at least 15 minutes each day
~ dry dishes & put away instead of just leaving to air dry on the rack
~ Organize, Organize, Organize
~ When finances permit purchase needed furniture (dressers, entertainment units etc.)

FAMILY:
General ~ to improve relationship with my son
Specific ~ more positive comments
~ more patience (and therefore less yelling)
~ Offer to play instead of being asked
~ Read at least once a day (not including bedtime)

SCRAPBOOKING:
~ stop obsessing over placement/papers: COMMIT & STICK IT DOWN ALREADY!
~ complete at least 5 mini albums for myself
~ create cards for all celebrations (bday/anniversary/holiday/new baby)
~ create 20 other cards
~ use the supplies I have on hand (no shopping! - except with g.c.'s if given)

FINANCIAL:
~ no spending $$ on scrapbooking except adhesives
~ write down and track all debts and start paying down
~ save for new camera

OTHER: ~ limit t.v. veg time; try to do something while watching such as fold laundry or tidy up, wash dishes on commercials etc.

Wow, it seems like such a long list! Hopefully I will at least be able to tackle the household chores. I haven't exactly been perfect the first 6 days but at least I have been plogging thru it. And it feels good to get it done!
